Overview

A Glimpse Into The Story

THE TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS OF TIN CAN LIZZIE is not just a memoir but an emotionally charged journey that offers an intimate glimpse into the life and legacy of a woman named Liz, as seen through the eyes of her sister, Rita. This book is a tribute to Liz’s life and a profound exploration of grief, love, and the relentless passage of TIME, inviting you to share in their emotional journey.

The story centers on Liz’s final days, revealing her deep love for her family and her unfufilled desire to spend more TIME with them. Liz’s voice echoes throughout the narrative, emphasizing her belief in the strength needed to survive life’s challenges. Her motto, “In life, you have to be strong to survive,” poignantly reminds readers of the resilience required in the face of life’s trials and inspires them with hope and courage.

The author’s central theme is that you can OVERCOME YOUR TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS THROUGH CHRIST JESUS. Liz stresses that you shouldn’t let TIME ESCAPE from you or miss out on the opportunities God has planned for you, inspiring readers with a message of hope and courage!

Rita’s account is deeply personal and raw, detailing her profound struggle to come to terms with her sister’s sudden death. The narrative shifts between Liz’s reflections on her life and Rita’s experiences following Liz’s passing, creating a layered and multifaceted portrait of two sisters bound by love and shared history. Rita’s journey to Florida and her supernatural experiences adds a unique dimension to the story, blending the ordinary with the extraordinary.

The book’s exploration of TIME as an antagonist is both powerful and relatable. TIME  is depicted as a thief, mercilessly cutting short Liz’s life and leaving her family grappling with unfinished stories and unsaid goodbyes. Rita’s poignant questions-why there wasn’t more TIME, why they couldn’t say goodbye-resonate with anyone who has experienced the sudden loss of a loved one, making the book a poignant and relevant read.

THE TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS OF TIN CAN LIZZIE is not just a memoir; it’s a testament to the enduring power of family, faith, and the human spirit. Liz’s wish for her family’s story to be told is beautifully realized in Rita’s heartfelt writing. The book is a source of comfort and inspiration, offering readers the courage to face their TRIALS and the FAITH to believe in miracles.

Rita’s narrative is a tribute to her sister and a universal story of love, loss, and the struggle to find meaning in life’s inevitable hardships. This book will resonate with anyone who has experienced loss, reminding them of the importance of cherishing the TIME they have with their loved ones and the strength that comes from enduring life’s Trials and Tribulations.

This book especially relates to those families who experienced Grief and Hardships during the Pandemic of the COVID-19 virus to many families worldwide. A TIME the world will never forget! You will not want to miss this true story and pass it down to future generations.

Tin Can Lizzie

From the Streets of Grit to a Legacy of Grace

Young Tin Can Lizzie

Graceful Liz years later

They called her Tin Can Lizzie, and everyone on the streets knew why.

At barely ten years old, Lizzie stood in the middle of the street as if she owned it, curls flying, sleeves pushed up, a penny pinched between her fingers. The boys crowded close, caps pulled low, boots scuffing the stones, all leaning in as if their breath alone might guide the coin.

Four dented tin cans sat in a row, battered and proud, surrounded by the day’s lost pennies. Lizzie squinted, her tongue caught at the corner of her mouth, then flicked her wrist. Clink. The sound rang out bright and sharp, echoing down the narrow street.

Groans and laughter followed. Someone whistled. Someone else demanded a rematch.

Lizzie just grinned — quiet, confident — already reaching for another penny. In those moments, the street was her stage, the boys her audience, and the tin cans her claim to the legend. Long after the game ended, they would still remember her that way: the girl who never missed and never backed down

That’s why, years later, they still called her Tin Can Lizzie and wanted everyone to remember her name and her accomplishments in the streets.

But the Legend of Tin Can Lizzie was only the beginning. She didn’t stop being a legend when the game ended. Tin Can Lizzie was more than a nickname—it was the beginning of a remarkable life and survival with a strong will and challenge to OVERCOME.

The pennies, the streets, the laughter — those moments grew into a life full of family, grit, humor, and heart. The story, as she told it to me in her final days, is one of many memories that shaped who she was and who she became.

My purpose in writing Lizzie’s and our family’s story is to keep the truth, demonstrate survival, keep her spirit, and give the story some substance that others can hold onto when they are going through Trials and Tribulations in life as well. They too can OVERCOME as we did in our lives through Christ Jesus

Dr Rita Colasent, Author

Why The Trials and Tribulations of Tin Can Lizzie Is More Than Just a Book, and Why Returnability Matters

There is something quietly affecting about a book that preserves a life not as legend, but as lived experience. The Trials and Tribulations of Tin Can Lizzie is such a work. It is more than a memoir; it is a testament to memory, resilience, family, and faith, told with care and emotional honesty.

Rather than presenting itself solely as a personal family history, the book reveals a deeper purpose as its story unfolds. Through the life of Elizabeth “Tin Can Lizzie” Seither, Dr. Colasent captures the realities of poverty, loss, survival, and endurance, particularly within the context of a family navigating extraordinary challenges. The story is grounded in real events, but its meaning reaches beyond one individual or one household.

The narrative unfolds through remembered conversations, family history, and reflections shaped by TIME and circumstance. Dr. Colasent does not attempt to polish or dramatize the past. Instead, she allows the story to remain human, sometimes painful, often reflective, and consistently sincere. The result is a portrait of a woman whose strength emerged not from ease, but from persistence in the face of repeated trials.

TIME is the heart of the message; how it shapes lives, steals moments, and forces reckonings. Set against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, the story underscores how fragile connection can be and how easily opportunities for closure, understanding, and reconciliation can disappear. Loss, in this context, is not abstract. It is immediate and personal, experienced through unanswered questions and unfinished conversations.

Faith also runs quietly through the book, not as doctrine, but as grounding. The belief that trials can be endured, and that meaning can emerge even from suffering, gives the narrative its steady emotional footing. Dr. Colasent does not write to persuade, but to testify; allowing readers to draw strength from a life that continued forward despite limitations imposed by circumstance, health, and TIME.

One of the book’s greatest strengths is its honesty. The author does not shy away from complexity, regret, or imperfection. Instead, she presents a life as it was lived, shaped by choices, consequences, love, and survival. In doing so, the book becomes relatable to anyone who has carried family stories, navigated grief, or attempted to make sense of the past while moving forward.

Beyond its content, there is an important practical element worth noting: the book’s returnable status. While often overlooked, returnability plays a crucial role in a book’s visibility. It allows bookstores to stock the title with confidence, giving readers the chance to encounter it organically. For a story rooted in remembrance and shared human experience, this accessibility matters. It ensures the book can reach readers who may not be searching for it, but who may deeply need it.

Symbolically, returnability aligns with the spirit of the book itself. The Trials and Tribulations of Tin Can Lizzie is, in many ways, about returning, to memory, to family history, to voices that might otherwise fade. It invites readers to pause, reflect, and consider how personal stories shape collective understanding.

Dr. Colasent does not present this book as a definitive account, but as a faithful one. It honors a life by telling it, and in doing so, preserves meaning for future generations. The book is not meant to be rushed. It is meant to be read thoughtfully, revisited, and remembered.

Because of its returnable status for bookstores and libraries and its emotional sincerity, The Trials and Tribulations of Tin Can Lizzie stands a stronger chance of finding its place on bookstore shelves and in personal libraries. There, it waits, not simply to be read, but to remind readers that even ordinary lives, shaped by hardship and perseverance, carry enduring value.

“Please note that the Book Returnability Program applies only to book retailers and is not available to individual buyers or direct consumers.”
